Good morning, Good afternoon, evening!
You're gonna thank me after trying out this wonderful DIY mask, truuust me!
So, in the last few months I have become more and more interested in skincare. I began to purchase different products, test out different brands and cult faves. And particularly in the last couple weeks, I've been interested in the science behind skin care. I've learnt so much about my own skin and what I need to feed it in order to combat my personal skin issues. This led me to have a real urge to try out some natural skin remedies. I've read into plenty of ingredients, what they do for certain skin types, ingredients you'd never think of rubbing onto your skin!
Soooooo, matcha matcha matcha.. This lil green powder made from tea leafs is a bloody incredible and powerful natural ingredient. Fab for your insides AND out...
... See!
Yes, I look bloody ridiculous. a lil green pea head. But I've found a new fave remedy for dull, tired skin! I've been torturing my skin with salicylic acid (it's an amazing blackhead buster!) and it's been feeling a lil sensitive, so I racked my brain at how to give it some TLC.
I didn't wanna have to go out and spend mad money on a new all singing, all dancing treatment or the finest face mask reviewed by beauty bloggers everywhere. Where's the fun in that!?
All my products cater to oily skin.. and I needed something moisturising.. so after a helping hand from my pal Google, and a few cupboard goodies, I cracked it! I'm so glowy and fresh *insert sassy gal emoji*
Heres what ya need:
.some matcha (I use a brand called vivid matcha, they come in 1g sachets which is perfeeeect for this mask! They aren't too pricey either, you can find packs of 7 in Waitrose)
.Milk or water
.Honey
.Oats (not essential, work best if you want this recipe as a cleanser rather than mask)
SOOO lets talk science:
Matcha is crazy good for you, it became trendy maybe a year or two ago and I've enjoyed the odd matcha latte here and there. Matcha is a very pure form of Green tea, the process from leaf to powder is different from that of green tea.
So, when you have your green tea, you bin the tea bag.. which does in fact remove some of the beneficial ingredients.. Buuuut, you consume the whole of matcha powder, so you're essentially giving your body ALL the beneficial ingredients, brill!
Matcha can help to improve your immune system, destress, calm you, help with anti ageing and weight loss. But what about when you whack it all over your skin? I'll tell ya what!
. It's amazingly soothing. Green tea is a great product to use on oily or sensitive skin.
. It contains something called catechises, which have been found to protect, perfect for tackling all that pollution in the air your skin comes face to face with (excuse the pun, hehe) daily!
. It also contains antioxidants, which again combat the daily environmental factors your skin has to deal with, AND may reduce the appearance of fine lines, giving a firmer, tighter look, yay!
With that all said, let's begin!
Before anything, you're gonna wanna cleanse and tone your face!
Step One: Begin by emptying your matcha into a bowl and adding a lil bit of milk or water and mixing to create a paste.
Step Two: Next you need to add your honey ( I used a Rowse honey which contained manuka and vitamin C.. I looooove vit C, so you should grab this one too if you can! ) mix that all in!
Step Three (OPTIONAL): Add in some oats and microwave on low heat until in forms with the other ingredients.
Step Four: Now you can continue to add some milk or water to create your desired consistency, I like mine thick and easy to spread.
Step Five: Apply all over damp face and relax for 10-15 mins!
Step Six: Gently wash off by rubbing with a clean face cloth and warm water then continue to finish your skincare routine with serums, moisturisers, etc.
Your skin will feel moisturised from the honey. Glowy, fresh, and firm from the matcha, and clean from the very light exfoliant of the oats.
So there you go! Who knew such a refreshing face treatment could be so cheap, easy and fun! I'm absolutely going to be using this mask on Sunday's after a long week. Give your skin some love! Try this one out and let me know what you think! I hope you love it as much as I do!
Lots of love,
